Lots of parts, many variables to continually calculate in flight trajectory, plus huge stresses in forces and temperatures, mean lots of potential problems.
... Yet USA has sent the Voyager II probe to visit the farthest solar system planet, Neptune, in a fly-by.
It's a shame that the Neptune Orbiter program appears to have been canceled.
