For the first time since the 80's we in UK have a political party who wants to unilaterally nuclear disarm (Old Labour under Michael Foot adopted the CND position and this didn't change until Blair got in). It seems some Army types agree:
Kind of agree with Clegg on getting over this "special relationship" crap, there isn't one. The Yanks are gonna do what the Yanks are gonna do and nothing we say will change that.
It has been ventured that the special relationship began with the successful Grapple tests that proved we had mastered thermonuclear technology. This led to the amending of the McMahon Act that prevented US export of nuclear technology to foreign powers and the close nuclear cooperation between UK and USA of modern times. However the LibDems are being naive as usual. The country has been invaded by third world immigrants bringing street crime, soaring health, education and welfare bills - but at least we can still nuke anyone who can't nuke us back.
Got to be something in that surely? Not much else to shout about here but at least we still have the legacy of William Penney to deter any possible future aggressor. Although, if Labour win the next election, perhaps with the LibDems help, a possible invader can get away by doing it the easy way. Just get your army to apply for British passports / asylum and they can all just fly in and take over the easy way. With not a shot being fired...

It looks like we might be heading for a hung parliament, so anything is possible.
