Really nice shot of the initial fireball of shot Grable from Operation Upshot-Knothole. You can clearly see the target vehicles and the expanding shockfront relecting from the ground.

Yeah I agree
Initially I have some doubts between "Grable" & "Climax" shot for the 1st picture, but during "Grable", smoke screen were used in the target aera and in your picture, you can easily seen some +/- smoke screen/light "partial" cloud/smoke |

The smoke and the burst height were the clinchers for me. These two videos will help as well.

The images came from here. The grable image is from a clip within the documentary "WONDERS ARE MANY: The Making of Doctor Atomic". |

I showed my chem professor this site and the Grable photo with the shockwaves visible he found incredible. He has interest in this subject but has never come across these photographs. Unreal pictures Sonicbomb. |
