 Successful launch of the first Saturn I, first of the family of Saturn vehicles and at the time the most powerful booster in existence. The S-I first stage was built using tankage from Jupiter and Redstone rockets in a concept humorously referred to as "Cluster's Last Stand". For this flight the second and third stages were inert and filled with water ballast.
