      Mirage III-V Balzac 
    Description:
    The Dassault Mirage III-V Balzac was one of the most interesting offshoots of the Mirage III family tree. A VTOL fighter, the IIIV featured eight small vertical lift jets straddling the main engine, designed n response to a mid-1960s NATO specification for a VTOL strike fighter. After two test pilots were killed in testing the project was discontinued in 1965.

      Do-335 Pfeil  Popular
    Description: The Dornier Do-335 Pfeil ("Arrow") was a World War II heavy fighter. The Pfeil's performance was much better than that of other twin-engine designs due to its unique "push-pull" layout. The Luftwaffe was desperate to get the design into use, but delays in engine deliveries meant only a handful were delivered before the war ended.

      Concorde 
    Description:
    The Aérospatiale-BAC Concorde was a turbojet-powered supersonic passenger airliner (SST). A product of an Anglo-French government treaty, combining the manufacturing efforts of Aérospatiale and the BAC. First flown in 1969, Concorde entered service in 1976 and continued for 27 years. As a result of the type's only crash (on 25 July 2000), operations ceased on 24 October 2003.

    The Douglas X-3 Stiletto was a 1950s US experimental jet aircraft with a slender fuselage and a long tapered nose, manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company. Its primary mission was to investigate the design features of an aircraft suitable for sustained supersonic speeds, which included the first use of titanium in major airframe components. It was, however, seriously underpowered for its purpose and could not even exceed Mach 1 in level flight.

      McDonnell XP-67  Popular

    Silent black and white footage of the ill fated McDonnell XP-67 "Moonbat" filmed by the U.S. Army Air Forces Air Technical Service Command in 1944. The XP-67 was a prototype twin-engine, long range, single-seat interceptor aircraft developed at the end of WWII. Although the design was conceptually advanced, it was beset by numerous problems and never approached its anticipated level of performance. The project was cancelled after the sole completed prototype was destroyed by an engine fire.

The Canberra could fly at a higher altitude than any other bomber through the 1950s and set a world altitude record of 21,430 m in 1957. The Canberra was a popular export product and served with many nations. Canberras served in the Vietnam War, the Falklands War, the Indo-Pakistani Wars, and numerous African conflicts. A few remain in service, performing meteorological work for NASA.
